Mikey & Killian met at her company’s holiday party in December of 2016.

Mikey’s friend Jenna worked for the company “Rachel Roy” on the 2nd floor of a building on West 40th Street overlooking Bryant Park, NYC. When it was time to hire a DJ for the holiday party, she hired Mikey and his crew to be the night’s entertainment. Killian was relatively new to the building – her company “Topson Downs” recently acquired the Rachel Roy brand, and their office was moved to the 3rd floor. Because their company was based in Los Angeles, and her and her co-worker Mariah were relatively new, Killian thought the holiday party would be the perfect opportunity for the Rachel Roy team to get to know them.

As they made their way down the elevator, Mikey was already mid-set pumping the crowd up with the bass and beats. A master of his craft, his focus and concentration was immediately broken when Killian stepped off the elevator and entered the room. A few minutes later, Mikey thankfully played “Crank Dat by Soulja Boy”, and Killian & Mariah proceeded to break out into dance in front of the team of 40. Mikey continued to play amazingly throughout the night and Killian eventually made her way to give her praises to him. She then asked if he could play at their company launch party next month, which Mikey happily accepted. Excited for the opportunity to see her again, it was to his surprise that upon arriving, Mariah let Mikey know that Killian stayed home sick that day! Fortunately for him, Jenna, Mariah, and Killian all became friends after that night. Jenna took her to see him DJ at his home base “Mills Tavern” in Hoboken, NJ, and eventually were reunited at Jenna’s birthday party in February 2017. Killian & Mikey hit it off that night and were pretty much inseparable ever since.

Four and a half years (and a pandemic) later, Mikey wanted to propose in the place where it had all started for them in November 2021. After intentionally planning a trip down memory lane by a ride on the bus to the city, having dinner at Koi, taking a stroll through the Winter Village, and seeing her favorite comedian Heather McMahan, Mikey then tricked Killian that they would be meeting Mariah for drinks at Bryant Park after the show - just like old times. When they got to the fountain right before Bryant Park closed, Mikey got down on one knee and asked Killian to marry him. She didn’t say anything back as she was in a state of shock, but did nod, “yes”! To this day, Killian’s mom playfully states that Mikey is the only person who has ever been able to make Killian speechless.
